I have used the PS2 guitar on the game ‘Frets of fire’, on the PC via the USB/PS2 adapter.
Frets of fire is the freeware game that is similar to Guitar Hero.
Whether or not its going to work for the PC version of GH3 is another matter since they are, apparently bundling the old 360 GH2 Explorer guitar with GH3 on the PC.
I would think there’s a good chance it will work though.
They must realise that people with PS2’s and PC’s have the game and don’t need another guitar.

well the 360 is usb? maybe
it’s mad if they made different controllers up for different versions.. but not sure about the ps2
errm also i think they only sell the guitar with the game..

I contacted Aspyr Media and they said the only guitar controller that will work is the USB Xplorer controller. I bought the PS2 controller to USB and I can’t get the guitar to work for the PC version of Guitar Hero III without using a game profiler. I programmed the keyboard keys to the controller buttons and everything, but I can’t program the whammy bar into it. So yes you can use a playstation 2 guitar controller on the PC version, but you have to buy a game profiler (Pinnacle Game Profiler) and you can’t use the whammy, or two guitar controllers (even with the dual connector with 2 PS2 controller ports on it).
